Each setting in the AI Persona Coordination Settings, gives Personas different information about your group. They're organized to build understanding from high-level identity down to specific behaviors.

Remember: You're teaching Personas about your group, not controlling every response. These settings provide context and guidance that shapes how Personas understand their role.

There are several available settings, lets break down each one:

Conversational Refinement:

What this is:

These settings provide optional refinements that shape how AI Personas participate and interact within a group chat. Think of them as "personality and behavior tuning" for your group's dynamics.

Why use this:

Group chats have unique purposes and vibes - a creative brainstorming session needs different energy than a focused work planning chat. Conversational Refinement lets you:

  • Tailor the group's purpose and tone to match your goals
  • Guide how Personas interact with you and each other
  • Create the right atmosphere for productive, enjoyable, or entertaining discussions

When to use this:

  • Creating a new group chat - Set the foundation from the start
  • For specific conversational hopes or goals - Configure settings for focused outcomes

Where to find this setting:

  1. Open your intended group chat
  2. Tap the group name at the top OR tap the three dots (•••) in the upper right
  3. Select "Persona Interactions" from the drop down menu
  4. Scroll down to "Conversational Refinement”
  5. Set the guidelines here

1. Type of Group

What this is:

The fundamental nature and identity of this group, giving AI Personas context about the kind of conversation they’re to participate in, and what dynamics to expect.

How to define the ‘Type of Group”:

Describe the group's essential character in a few words. Is this is professional marketing team? A health support circle?

Examples of what you might write:

  • "Group of close friends"
  • "Creative writing partners"
  • "Supportive study group"

2. Group Purpose

What this is:

Explains why this group exists and what members are trying to accomplish together, shaping Persona participation. Personas need to know if they're supporting wellness goals, facilitating creative work, helping with learning, or just hanging out with friends.

How to define the “Group Purpose”:

Consider why this group exists and what type of experiences take place here.

Examples of what you might write:

  • "A space to to support my wellness journey through thoughtful and inquisitive dialogue."
  • "A group to explore philosophical questions and challenge each other's thinking"

3. Discussion Topics

What this is:

This setting lists the subject areas and themes this group focuses on, helping Personas understand what's relevant and what to prioritize in their contributions.

How to define "Discussion Topics":

Think about what your group might typically talk about. What subjects are most relevant? What should the group care about most?

Examples of topics you might list:

  • Wellness group: "Mental health, fitness, nutrition, self-care practices"
  • Creative group: "Writing, art, creative process, overcoming blocks"
  • Professional group: "Business strategy, productivity, career development"
  • Learning group: "Physics concepts, problem-solving techniques, exam preparation"

4. AI Persona <> Human Relationship

What this is:

This setting explains to Personas, how they should relate to human members – their relational role in the group which shapes their behavior. Personas act differently as friends vs. coaches vs. advisors.

How to define the “Group Purpose”:

Consider, how you want AI Personas in this group to relate to you, or other human members in the space. Like peers? Guides? Challengers?

Examples of relationships you might define:

  • Friends (equals, casual, collaborative)
  • Coaches (guiding, encouraging, structured)
  • Advisors (expert, informative, consultative)
  • Collaborators (co-creating, partnering, building together)

5. AI Persona <> AI Persona Relationship

What this is:

This setting defines how AI Personas relate to their AI Persona peers while in the group chat, influencing their interactions, conversations, and style of dialogue between all Personas in the group.

How to define AI Persona <> AI Persona Relationships:

Consider if you want AI Personas to interact with one another. If yes, how? Are they friends having friendly conversations? Conversational facilitators, or even talk-show hosts engaging in deep debates?

Examples of dynamics you might define:

  • "Collaborative partners who build on each other's ideas"
  • "Friendly debaters who challenge each other"
  • "Co-facilitators working together on a project"

6. Human <> Human Relationship

What this is:

This setting describes how human members relate to each other, helping Personas understand existing dynamics so they can participate appropriately and respect established relationships.

How to define "Human <> Human Relationship":

Consider the relationship and dynamic between the humans in this group. How do they know each other? What's their connection?

Examples of relationships you might describe:

  • "Close friends who've known each other since college"
  • "Professional colleagues working on a project together"
  • "Family members who live far apart but stay connected"
  • "Classmates studying together for final exams"
  • "Online friends who met through shared interests"

7. Group Objectives

What this is:

Group objectives are the specific goals or outcomes expected from the groups existence and conversation. With these expected outcomes described, Personas can better support the group in what everyone is trying to achieve.

How to define Group Objectives:

Think about your general or specific goals you’d like the group to focus on in conversation. What would a successful experience look like?

Examples of objectives you might write:

  • “Engage in interactive, thought provoking discussions around education.”
  • "Explore and establish healthy habits, and hold me accountable"
  • "Help me process difficult emotions in a creative and safe space"
  • "Generate innovative business ideas and refine them through discussion"

8. Group Guidelines

What this is:

This setting provides specific behavioral expectations and rules for Personas in this group – the foundational "do this, not that" instructions that teach Personas exactly how to participate.

How to define Group Guidelines:

Consider what specific behaviors you want (or don't want) from Personas in this group. What makes conversations work well here? What should Personas do or avoid?

Examples of guidelines you might include:

  • "Keep responses under 3 sentences to maintain quick conversational flow"
  • "Always address people by their names so they feel acknowledged"
  • "Ask thoughtful follow-up questions before offering solutions"
  • "Don't give unsolicited advice – wait until someone asks for guidance"

9. Style of Group Conversation

What this is:

This setting describes the emotional atmosphere and conversational energy of the group – the overall "vibe" that shapes how Personas express themselves, their tone, and their energy level.

How to define "Style of Group Conversation":

Think about the emotional feel you want in your group. Fast-paced and energetic? Calm and thoughtful? Challenging and debate-like? Deep and vulnerable?

Examples of styles you might describe:

  • "Fast-paced, playful, and energetic" (teaches Personas the group is lively with quick exchanges)
  • "Thoughtful, empathetic, and intimate" (teaches Personas to prioritize depth and emotional safety)
  • "Professional, focused, and collaborative" (teaches Personas to stay on-task and solution-oriented)
  • "Casual, funny, and supportive" (teaches Personas to keep things light while being encouraging)

10. Conversational Flow

What this is:

This setting provides a step-by-step guide for how conversations should unfold from beginning to end, teaching Personas the specific sequence and structure of interactions in this group.

How to define "Conversational Flow":

Map out the typical progression of a conversation in your group. What happens first? Then what? How should it build? How should it conclude? Think of it like writing a script or roadmap for how exchanges should flow.

Examples of flow you might describe:

For a problem-solving group:

  • "Begin by defining the problem we're trying to solve"
  • "Personas ask clarifying questions to understand the situation fully"
  • "Generate possible solutions together, with Personas offering and debating different perspectives"
  • "Evaluate pros and cons of each solution collaboratively"
  • "End with a clear decision or next steps"

11. Message Length Preference

What this is:

This setting tells Personas how long their responses should typically be, affecting conversational flow and pacing.

How to define "Message Length Preference":

Consider whether your group works better with quick exchanges or detailed responses. Think about the number of participants and the pace you want to maintain.

Your options:

  • Short and Concise – Brief responses that keep conversations moving quickly
  • Medium – Balanced between brevity and detail
  • Long – Comprehensive responses with full explanations and depth
  • Adaptable – Personas adjust their response length based on context and what the conversation needs

Tip: Groups with many Personas benefit from shorter messages to avoid overwhelming the chat. Deep discussion groups may want longer, more thoughtful responses. Choose "Adaptable" if you want Personas to read the room and adjust accordingly.

12. Human Interaction Guide

What this is:

This setting provides specific guidance about the approach and tone Personas should use when engaging with human members, refining how they interact beyond just the relationship type.

How to define "Human Interaction Guide":

Consider the ideal way for Personas to engage with humans in this group. How should personas, in their role, communicate with the human participants(s) of the group?

Examples of guides you might write:

  • "Engage warmly and personally, like talking to close friends"
  • "Be professional but approachable"
  • "Be direct and challenge ideas constructively"

13. Persona Interaction Guide

What this is:

This setting tells Personas how to engage with other Personas in the group, explicitly welcoming Persona-to-Persona interaction and describing what those interactions should look like.

How to define "Persona Interaction Guide":

Decide if you want Personas talking to each other, and if so, how. Should they engage as if they’re on a podcast style conversation together- taking turns sharing their thoughts and opinions on a matter? Or should they collaborate with one another, prioritizing the needs at hand?

Examples of guides you might write:

  • "Take turns responding, in podcast-style, to create organized dialogue"
  • "Ask each other questions when another Persona's expertise would be valuable"

Specific Instructions for Active Personas in the Group Chat

What this is:

This setting offers optional refinements that help shape how a Persona participates in a specific group chat. Personas will naturally engage based on their personality, but these instructions can help them better fit the group's unique context.

Why use this:

To help a Persona align with this group's specific vibe, purpose, or dynamic without changing who they fundamentally are.

Where to find this setting:

  1. Open your intended group chat
  2. Tap the group name at the top OR tap the three dots (•••) in the upper right
  3. Select "Persona Interactions" from the drop down menu
  4. Scroll down to "Active Personas" at the bottom
  5. Find the Persona you want to refine
  6. Tap "Space Specific Instructions"
  7. Set the “Roll in Group” or “Expertise in Group” here

Role in Group

Defines the Persona's conversational role in this group - how they participate in the dialogue, not what they are.

Think about: How should this Persona engage in conversations here? What's their function in the group dynamic?

Examples:

  • A "Chef" Persona might have the role of "Podcast co-host" (hosting conversations about cooking)
  • A "Therapist" Persona might have the role of "Reflective listener" (listening and validating)
  • A "Business Strategist" Persona might have the role of "Devil's advocate" (challenging your and other Persoans ideas constructively )

Expertise in Group

Helps the Persona know what knowledge or skills to emphasize in this group.

Think about: What should this Persona prioritize or focus on in their contributions here?

Examples:

  • "Visual storytelling techniques"
  • "Challenging Bias"
  • "Bring physics expertise to the forefront"
