Using iMessage AI: Smart Replies and Chats
How to review suggestions and browse your synced iMessage conversations.
✨ Using iMessage AI
The iMessage tab is built around two views: Smart Replies and Chats. You can switch between them using the segmented control at the top of the screen.
Smart Replies
Smart Replies are Fractal’s suggested responses and follow‑up actions for your iMessage conversations.
What’s in this feed:
- Suggested replies for messages you haven’t answered yet.
- Priority ordering so the most urgent items appear first.
- Real‑time updates as new messages arrive on your Mac.
What you can do:
- Tap a suggestion to open its conversation.
- Review the recent context Fractal used to draft the reply.
- Send the reply (or edit it) from Fractal.
- Hide an individual suggestion, or hide suggestions for a chat you don’t want help with.
Chats
The Chats view shows your synced iMessage threads inside Fractal.
Features:
- Search across chat titles and message content.
- Filters for All, Direct, or Groups.
- Live refresh when new messages sync from your Mac.
Opening a chat:
- Tap a conversation to open the full message thread.
- Scroll through your message history.
- Use the composer to draft or send a reply.
- Open chat settings to control things like Smart Reply visibility for that thread.
Status and troubleshooting
If the status pill shows Offline, Degraded, or a permission warning:
- Open the iMessage tab on your Mac.
- Use the setup sheet to review permissions and re‑enable the helper.
You can keep using Fractal normally while the daemon catches up; Smart Replies will appear once syncing resumes.
