💬 iMessage AI Overview
iMessage AI lets your Personal AI understand and help with your real iMessage conversations. When enabled, Fractal can:
- Keep a secure, synced view of your iMessage chats inside Fractal.
- Generate Smart Replies based on your context and writing style.
- Surface important threads, follow‑ups, and suggested actions.
Where to find it
Location: Bottom navigation bar → iMessage tab (ellipsis‑message icon).
On macOS, iMessage AI appears in the left navigation and opens to the same Smart Replies / Chats home.
How it works (high level)
Because iMessage data only lives on your Mac, Fractal uses a small background helper on macOS to do the syncing:
- Fractal for Mac installs a login‑item helper called FractalPersonalAi.
- That helper starts the Personal AI daemon in the background.
- The daemon reads your local Messages database, syncs new messages to your Personal AI, and streams updates back to Fractal.
On iPhone/iPad, Fractal shows your synced chats and Smart Replies, but setup must be completed on your Mac.
What you’ll see
The iMessage AI home has two modes:
- Smart Replies — a prioritized feed of suggested replies and actions for your recent conversations.
- Chats — your synced iMessage conversations, searchable and filterable.
If iMessage AI isn’t set up yet, Fractal will guide you to finish setup on macOS.
